What did I learn as a writer from this class? That’s a question I had to think a lot about, but I realized the answer was close, which means my email and all emails I got from my professor are filled with advice on how to improve my writing skills. By checking it, I got in my mind a lot more things I’ve learned, but firstly,

As a writer, I have learned that writing is more than just putting words on paper. It’s a process that involves various steps, skills, and strategies. Throughout my writing journey, I’ve discovered that it’s essential to acknowledge and use the different language resources that I have and that others must become a better writer.

One of the essential things I have learned is that writing involves reading, drafting, revising, editing, and evaluating my work. This helps me refine my writing and improve its quality. By checking my work, I can identify what I need to fix and make changes to make it better.

Another thing I learned is that writing depends on the context, purpose, and audience. I need to understand what type of writing I am doing, who I am writing for, like my professor used to say, “WHO’S MY AUDIENCE”, and what I want to say. This helps me write something that people will find relevant, interesting, and effective.

In addition, writing can be a social and collaborative activity. I learned that it’s helpful to get feedback and work with my peers, other writers. This helps me see my writing from different perspectives and improve it.

Another essential aspect of writing is being able to express my opinions and beliefs clearly. This means understanding what I think and communicating that through my writing. I also learned how to find and use different sources to support my writing and use them properly.

One of the things maybe I didn’t learn, because that’s not the best word to use, but I’ve developed, is writing much longer. Previously, my assignments were so short, and my previous professor has been telling me that all the time.

Another thing I have learned from advice to my opinion essay are focused for improving the essay’s title and subheadings, following the conventions of the New York Times style, which is my publication, using rhetorical strategies like ethos, logos and pathos, and providing specific examples of mismanagement within my topic. The advice also emphasizes the importance of using sources to add credibility to the essay and following formatting conventions for paragraphs and sentences.

Lastly, as I mentioned before I learned about rhetorical analysis such as; pathos, ethos, logos, but it also means understanding how language and argument work e.g. I persuade my audience using logos by showing them the way the problem affects them, and using ethos, I prove the problem with common sources. This helped me write more persuasively, affecting people and effectively. Also understand how to get people’s attention.

Overall, those are things I learned and developed from all of my assignments for this class, by developing these skills and strategies, I think I became a better writer, able to tackle different writing tasks with ease and confidence, but I know there’s still a long way to go with improving my writing skills.
